Please pardon me for slacking off on my weekly update. I’ve been travelling quite a bit recently, for work, personal and for Rotary, so writing the weekly update has been a challenge. But I’m now back on track!

It was good to see our senior members back from their travels. Maeder, E.T. and Fred kept us all on our toes with a debate on disabled facilities in Macau. Meader presented the Club with a pennant from RC Ningbo.

From Oct 12 to 16, a delegation of our members – PP Choi, PP Stella, PP Sam, IPP Fatima, Rtn Margaret and myself, along with Fatima’s sister Maria, my wife and kids, went to Taiwan to join our Friendship Club RC Taipei Diamond’s 10th Anniversary Charter Dinner.

The fellowship with Taipei Diamond is always a lot of fun, especially after some whisky that we brought from the airport. PP Sam also brought us to experience Taiwan like the locals. Don’t worry if you’ve missed this one. We will be going to Taipei again to join our Sister Club RC Taipei’s 70th Anniversary Charter Dinner from Dec 1-4. RIP Barry will be the guest of honour. If you want to see how tall he is in person, or to experience Taiwan like the locals under PP Sam’s guided tour, please register with Sam ASAP before the air tickets get expensive.

Tonight (Oct 18), IPP Fatima invited Dr Joseph Kwok, executive member of Rehabilitation International and chairperson of Fu Hong HK to speak at our club. Coming along were our good friends Jennifer and JoJo from Macau Fu Hong, as well as President Vicky of RC Lan Kwai Fong.
Joseph talked about the linkage between Rotary International (RI) and Rehabilitation International (RI), which was founded by a Rotarian in the U.S. One major focus of Rehabilitation International is to prevent preventable disease. That’s exactly what Rotary has been doing with End Polio. Then JoJo talked about the Rehabilitation International Asia Pacific Regional Conference which will be held in Macau next year. During the conference, a plenary session will be dedicated to the work of Rotary in rehabilitation services.

Our club will certainly support this meaningful event. Please see the FB recap of the meeting tonight: FaceBook

Meanwhile, Rtn Marc is organizing the Clean Macau series. The first activity will be held on Oct 28 in Hac Sac Beach. Let’s support and make Macau, our home, a clean city! Marc will share more details in the club WhatsApp group.

On Oct 31, we will have our Halloween Party cum World’s Greatest Meal at Macau Tower. Proceeds will go to the End Polio Fund. So, please bring your family and friends and sign up on the Club’s WhatsApp Group.
