It is of such a great honor that I am serving as the president of this amazing club, which has over 70 years of history in making a difference in the community and the world. But what actually propels me to step up and serve as the president? Is it love or responsibility?
When I served as the President of Rotaract Club of Macau 10 years ago, I did not imagine becoming a Rotarian, let alone the President of the mother club – Rotary Club in Macau. However, my Rotaract experience enabled me to appreciate the impact that Rotary makes in the world. More importantly, the ideal of fellowship through service allowed me to develop a great sense of belonging in this family of Rotaractors and Rotarians. I love this family, so I stayed and joined Rotary after my Rotaract years.
When you love your wife, you treasure her. When you love your children, you nurture them. When you love a place, you have the responsibility to sustain it and make it better. So, serving as the president becomes the natural responsibility after having joined the club for the past decade.
The Rotary International theme this year is Be the Inspiration. Many members in the club have been the source of my inspiration. In turn, I hope my love and responsibility for the club will be the inspiration for our Interactors, Rotaractors and new Rotarians, and may our club’s love and responsibility for the community be the inspiration for people around us.
Let us Be the Inspiration!
