On Saturday, March 31st, the Rotary Club of Macau held its 65th Annual Charity Ball, the Year of the Dragon Ball, at the Venetian Macau.
Over 250 guests and friends attended the Ball which included dinner, music, dancing, a lucky draw and a charity auction. It was a fun evening with entertainment provided by the great Tuna Macanese Band and Macau Elvis, Rudy Souza. Distinguished guests included District Governor David Harilela, District Governor Elect Kenneth Wong, Past District Governors Nuno Jorge, Vincent To, Anthony Hung, Jones Wong, Andrew Cheng, Gloria Cheng, Ada Cheng and District Governor Nominees Eugene Fong and Belinda Yeung.

Also attending was President Ip Peng Kin of the Social Security Fund, representing the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau was Sheng Gang as well as representatives of Du An County in Guangxi, the site of many of the service projects of the Rotary Club of Macau.

We were also delighted to have in attendance members of our sister club, the Rotary Club of Taipei.

The successful evening was the product of the hard work of President-Elect KC Wong, our “Iron Ladies” Past Presidents Stella Kan, Synthia Chan, and Fatima Ferreira, our Rotarians, and our Rotaractors as well as the Rotarians and supporters who donated the lucky draw items and the auction items. A special thanks have to go to Sands China Ltd. and Venetian Macau for their support of our ball and especially for their generous contribution to our scholarship project in Du An County. A generous check was presented to the Club for the project in Du An by Ms Melinda Leong, VP for Community Relations, Venetian Macau.

The party ended on Sunday afternoon with an informal lunch at the Petisqueira Restaurant in Taipa village for the departing visiting Rotarians from our sister club in Taipei hosted by Immediate Past President Teren Cheong and President Keith Pharis. We hope the ball will give the attendees, Rotarians and non-Rotarians, enjoyable memories of the fun and work of Rotary.
