The Rotary Club of Macau’s joint installation ceremony was held on Saturday at the Macau Tower Convention and Entertainment Centre for their new leaders.
New club leaders were welcomed from the Rotary Club of Macau, Rotaract Club of Macau, Rotaract Club of University of Macau Students’ Union, Interact Club of St. Paul School of Macau, and Interact Club of the International School of Macau, a statement from the Rotary Club of Macau yesterday noted. The statement added that this Rotary year’s theme is “Create Lasting Impact”.
In his speech, outgoing 79th President of the Rotary Club of Macau Denis Iec (易啟楠) noted the club’s projects and achievements, pointing out two milestones. First among them is empowering special-needs service beneficiaries, highlighting that they presented “a unique fashion show featuring garments crafted from upcycled and recycled materials”.
The second achievement is the successful charter of the Interact Club of the International School of Macao, with Iec noting: “Launching this new youth service club plants a vital seed for the next generation of changemakers in our community”, Iec said.
Meanwhile, incoming 80th President of the Rotary Club of Macau José Alves was quoted by the statement as saying: “As we step into this new Rotary year, Macau stands at a uniquely powerful crossroads – not only for commerce and cultural exchange between East and West, but most importantly, for humanitarian service”.
Moreover, a 15,000-pataca donation was made during the ceremony to support activities at long-time Rotary Club of Macau beneficiary Concordia School for Special Education, the statement said, with the cheque presented by Alves.
The new leaders are Rotaract Club of Macau President Cherry Ng (吳婷誼); President of the Rotaract Club of the University of Macau Students’s Union Daisy Leong (梁伊彤); while the two youngest new presidents at the joint installation were Jolin Cheang (鄭卓甯) of the Interact Club of St. Paul School of Macau, and Jasmine Chua (蔡慧琳) of the Interact Club of the International School of Macao.

O Rotary Club de Macau e os clubes Rotaract e Interact locais iniciaram novos mandatos numa cerimónia conjunta na Torre de Macau. Os novos dirigentes colocam o serviço comunitário e o envolvimento dos jovens entre as principais prioridades
O Rotary Club de Macau e os clubes Rotaract e Interact locais (clubes de serviço para jovens adultos e estudantes, respectivamente) iniciaram este sábado (5) novos mandatos, numa cerimónia conjunta realizada na Torre de Macau que reuniu dirigentes, jovens voluntários e representantes da comunidade. Sob o tema “Criar um Impacto Duradouro”, os novos responsáveis comprometeram-se a privilegiar projetos de serviço com efeitos sustentados na comunidade.
José Alves assumiu a presidência do Rotary Club de Macau, sucedendo a Denis Iec, que destacou como principais resultados do mandato anterior um desfile de moda com participação de pessoas com necessidades especiais e a criação do Interact Club da Escola Internacional de Macau.
O novo presidente afirmou que Macau pode desempenhar um papel relevante no serviço humanitário, aproveitando a sua posição como ponto de encontro entre diferentes culturas. Defendeu uma abordagem centrada em “ações comunitárias compassivas e concretas”.
Entre os novos dirigentes estão também Cherry Ng, que assume a presidência do Rotaract Club de Macau, e Daisy Leong, à frente do Rotaract Club da União dos Estudantes da Universidade de Macau. As responsáveis apontaram como prioridades o envolvimento dos jovens em atividades comunitárias, o desenvolvimento profissional e o reforço da presença dos clubes nos respetivos espaços educativos.
Jolin Cheang, do Interact Club da Escola de São Paulo de Macau, e Jasmine Chua, do Interact Club da Escola Internacional de Macau, assumiram igualmente a liderança dos dois clubes juvenis. Ambas destacaram a importância de promover uma cultura de serviço continuado e de dar aos jovens maior participação em projetos com impacto na comunidade.
Durante a cerimónia, o Rotary Club de Macau entregou um donativo de 15 mil patacas (cerca de 1.600 euros) à Escola Concordia de Educação Especial, instituição beneficiária de longa data do clube.
A cerimónia contou com a presença de representantes do Governo, do setor educativo, do Rotary International e de empresas que apoiam regularmente as atividades do clube.
