Rotary Club of Macau’s 59th Annual Charity Ball

The Rotary Club of Macau held its 59th Annual Charity Ball, “Hawaiian Night”, on 27 May 2006 at the Macau Tower. President Kazuyoshi Noguchi thanked guests for their generosity as well as the Ball Chairman/President Elect Keith Edward Pharis and his committee for their support.
Takanori Kitamura, Consul-General of Japan in Hong Kong was newly inducted into the Club as an Honorary Member.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between President Noguchi and Choi Sai Hong, President of Macau Dental Association. This was witnessed by the members of both parties and in addition to bringing dental health care and treatment for children in mountain villages in Guangxi province in the previous years, similar service to the elderly, orphans and children with special needs will also be provided locally.
Charity sales such as flower garlands made by the students of Concordia School of Special
Education, sales of raffle tickets and charity auctions were featured to raise funds for numerous charity projects in the coming year. Local projects include: co-organizing “Special Olympic Sports Day” with the Special Olympics Association, providing scholarships for the children of single parents, apartment painting for the elderly who live alone and organizing career seminars for high school and university students. Major international projects include the continued support in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Kowloon North of water projects in rural Mainland China and of students in the Experimental Middle School in Du’An County in Guangxi province (Since 2000, 6 primary schools and 1 secondary school have been built.)
