Meeting Highlights:

In the first meeting of 2015, we had very good news for all members as our club just inducted a new member Pedro Lobo with PP Fatima as his proposer. Pedro’s nationality is Portuguese and has lived in Macau for more than 20 years. He is a teacher at Escola Portuguesa de Macau, so we have one more member in the ‘Education‘ classification, joining Keith, Kazu and Elvo. Please join me in extending a huge welcome to Pedro to our family of Rotary to serve the communities in need above themselves.

Our club December activities: on Christmas Eve, 200 children from Cradle of Hope and Macau Association of Mentally Handicapped together with Rotarians and families were invited to join the 3D Innovative and Artistic Carnival at Venetian, Children were having fun with free popcorn and free soft drinks. On 25th-28th December, Rtn. Sam Ip leading our 2 sponsoring Rotaract clubs to Du’an, Guangxi, China. It was also our 15th year GuangXi Education and Poverty Alleviation Project.

2nd Club Assembly Highlights:

  •        2nd Club Assembly was held at 9.15 pm after the regular club meeting.
  •        21 members present with 17 proxies so meeting quorum.
  •        PP Peter Kok acted as Assembly Chair with Sec Stella being appointed as Club Assembly Secretary
  •       Full Assembly minutes will be circulated shortly but I would like to do a quick report below:-
  • a.     Reports from the President and all Board officers were presented and adopted
  • b.    Rtn Sam Ip received majority votes for President Nominee for 2016-17. Congratulations to Sam.
  • c.     Board members for 2015-16 were presented by PE Elizabete and voted for.

District Announcements

Jan 6 – District Governor (DG) Belinda announced that Past President (PP) HW Fung of Rotary Club of Metropolitan Hong Kong was selected to be DG RY2017-2018 in the Nominating Committee Meeting held on Jan 5. If no challenge is received by the end of 22 Jan, the nomination will be final. Congratulations to PP HW Fung

March 1 – District Rotary Day – Rotary HK Ultramarathon 2015 will take place at Lung Wo Road while the Rotary Carnival is at the adjoining Tamar Park. Race starts at 7:30 am and Rotary Carnival starts at 10:30 am. Thank you and see you on Thursday at Venetian, 15th January 2015 at 8 for 8:30 pm.
