Last meeting at the Fat Siu Lau Restaurant was the chartered night of the Rotary Club of Macau 69 years ago and was also the first meeting held after Pres. Liz re-posted to Vietnam. You can see how diligent and attached our President was with the Club. Her weekly report came out just the following day.
We had a good turn out of 44 pax last week including 5 Rotaractors and 2 surprise visitors – PP Jim and KK O’Mullan. They arrived from Kuala Lumpur on the day and came right to our meeting, though a bit late, due to the usual flight delay of Air Asia, We are very happy to have such “senior” PP coming back and joining our chartered night. You can see from the attached photo, both Jim and KK looked great.
With the advice from PP Keith, we read out the names of the 36 chartered members and their classifications to commemorate our chartered members who put great efforts in chartering our Club. It must not be an easy job then. It took them half a year to receive the recognition from RI and the Club was chartered on 16/6/1947. In the past decade, we’ve been holding the celebration at Fat Siu Lau Restaurant because this was the venue for the very first meeting held on 11/1/1946 when the very first board was elected by the 36 chartered members.
Thanks to PP Ip and Rtn. Pedro, we had very nice red wine sponsored by Pedro and old Port and Brandy sponsored by Ip. We had lots of fun and enjoyed the cuisine and wine. Thanks to PP Guy’s topping up, the box collection was $1,500.
Youth Exchange – Harassment Prevention Training on 18/6
We held the Harassment Prevention Training last Saturday at our Adopt-a-school, the St. Paul’s School for the UK youth summer camp students, their parents, teachers, district officers and our fellow Rotarains in this youth exchange project. It is one of the requirements of RI to qualify us to send an outbound team to UK. We are extremely thankful to have Rtn. Elvo to give us a very lively and informative training as a professional. District Youth Service Chair PDG Eugene came over from HK to attend. We have Incoming President Sam, PP Ip, PP Synthia, PP Fatima and me participated. After the training, we all went up to the roof top of the school and visited our Horticulture site. We are so happy to see the big sun flower and pumpkin which are the fruitful hard work of the mentally rehabilitated service-users. Please refer to the attached photos.
Coming meeting on 23/6
This Thursday, we will have our sponsored UK summer camp students to speak to us. Please come to the meeting to support them and to learn more about our project, apart from enjoying our great fellowship.
