On 9 December 2018, the Rotary Club of Macau jointly hosted the Joy the World Christmas Party – Colorful Dreams at Conrad Hotel with Macau Association for the Mentally Handicapped, with the support from our co-organizers Fu Hong Society of Macau, Macau Special Olympics and Macao Association Parents of Mentally Handicapped Persons. This was the 19th year that our club celebrated Christmas with children with special needs and their families, sharing our love and care.

Graced by the attendance of District Governor YC Ho, government officials and community leaders, the party had 600 participants, including people with special needs and their families, Rotarians and their families, Rotaractors, Interactors and volunteers. The program included Santa Claus and Snowman inflatable photo corner, sumptuous buffet and Santa Claus in town to distribute Christmas presents sponsored by Sands China Ltd. The highlight of the party was definitely the performances by various groups of people with special needs. They took much dedication and hard work to practice and rehearse beforehand, and delivered an outstanding show in front of their peers, families and friends.

Over the years, the party has become the stage for children of special needs to show their talents, thereby affirming their potential, building their confidence and helping them integrate into the society. Our club takes pride in providing a platform for them to shine on the festive occasion. The Rotary theme this year is Be the Inspiration, which calls our Rotarians to take actions to inspire people around us. At this Christmas Party, it was the children with special needs who inspired us.
