We had a marvelous 1516 Joint Installation evening with our two Rotaract Clubs on Aug 1 ( Sat ) with around 135 attendance, including DG Peter, DGE Eric , 8 PDG’s, District Officers, Past and Present Presidents from HK and Macau, our Rotarians, Rotaractors and guests. President Dieter of our sister club RC Makati North also came with his family. He was much impressed by the strong Rotary family fellowship within our district and especially our Rotaractors playing a valuable engaging role in the entire ceremony organization. Good job done, our Rotaractors from RAC and UMSU !
Apart from the usual installation ritual proceedings, there were two meaningful surprise highlights during the evening:
- DGE Eric on-stage to announce that our Club has won the most coveted Club Award from Rotary International’s Significant Achievement Award 2014-15 for District 3450 for our service project ‘ Light Up Rotary Great Gondola Grab ‘ charity raffle cum Rotary Light Show. Congratulations to IPP Kevin for leading our club to win this award and a big Thank You to Rtn Janet who was the brainchild of this innovative program. Of course, we all deserve a round of applause to ourselves who wholeheartedly contributed to make this a most memorable and meaningful service to the needy beneficiaries. ( Pls refer to attached copy of the Award Certificate which will be circulated in coming meeting)
- We surprised IPP Kevin with a birthday-cake cutting celebration ( well, don’t know if he’s expecting this anyway 🙂 ) , He was joined by his lovely wife Maggie and all August birthday Rotarians present, including our Treasurer Ricardo and PP Synthia
Box collection : HKD7030 + MOP3277.50 which will be donated in equal share to our two sponsored rotaract clubs.
I also like to express my heartfelt thanks to those of you who came joined IPP Kevin and myself with your words of encouragement and invaluable support, your great photos and every member of the hardworking organizing committee behind the scene. Hats off to PP Stella who helped supervised our Rotaractors to turn the evening to be such a wonderful and touching ceremony, to quote some PDGs comments.
Lastly, WARM REMINDER of our 1st Club Assembly this Thurs ( Aug 6 ) which was rescheduled from July 9. It will follow our 8.30 pm regular meeting at the Venetian. Secretary Stella will write to you separately with agenda and proxy details.
Hope to see most of you this Thursday at the Venetian so I can present my club goals and plans. .
Yours in Rotary
