Mar 6 Sunday was a busy day for PE Sam, PN Fatima and myself when we
- -started at 7.30 am with the Rotary 50Km Ultramarathon in HK when our club participated with a 7-member relay team from Fuhong Society’s I Lok Heen centre, past Rotaractor and associates. They finished within 4 hrs 58 mins which fared well within the 6 hours time limit
- – cheering for PP Filipe’s led Rotaract Club of Macau’s hockey team (comprised of Rotaractors and Fuhong’s service users ) to play a match against the HK hockey team. Our team won with a score of 3: 2!
- – attended the District Rotaract Peace Concert together with our Macau Rotaractors in the evening
This Thursday’s regular meeting was a Macau 5- clubs joint meeting cum a vocational talk by DG Peter Pang on his profession – plastic surgery. 22 of our members attended. There was also a very memorable moment when DG Peter gave recognition to senior Rotarians of 100 years and above in Macau ( age + rotary years). Naturally, our club has the most of these Rotarians, 10 to be exact. PP Maneiras, PP ET, PP Choi, PP Fred, PP Gary, PP Peter, Rtn Lei Loi Tak, PP Alfredo, PP Ip and PP Guy, we are all so proud of you. You are our role model to ‘ Service Above Self’ indeed! Do visit our club Facebook or website for photos of the happy moments.
Our ‘ Happy Garden’ Horticulture Therapy project is well underway at St Paul’s School rooftop garden and the Catholic Weekly ‘O Clarim’ recently featured our project in both Portuguese and English versions. Kindly find attached a clipping of the English coverage.
I will be attending the District’s Golden Flower Youth Microfilm Award Dinner’ next Thursday in HK together with St Paul’s School teachers as their school took part in the competition. So, thanks to VP Keith who will chair this 34th club meeting at the Venetian. Please come and support.
Well, I hope to see most of you in our 35th club meeting on Mar 24 when we will have Tesla Electric Car’s head of sales as our meeting speaker.
Thank you for your patient reading, as always.
Yours in Rotary,
Elizabete Fong
