Before reporting to you on Thursday’s Regular Meeting, I would like to start by reiterating the request made at the beginning of last week.
As you all know, our Club was unable to hold the Charity Annual Ball in the first half of the year.
Therefore, we are asking our members to make a one-off donation of MOP 3000 to finance the Club’s projects.
This one-off donation, as well as the Club Dues, can be transferred directly to the Club’s BNU bank account.
Alternatively, you may also do it via bank cheque or cash by coming to our Regular Meeting.
Your commitment will enable the Club to replenish its coffers and go ahead with some of the projects which are at the core of the Rotary Club of Macau activity throughout its 73-year-long history.
On our Thursday Regular Meeting, we received AG Crystal and her team made up of DAG Terence, DAG Liz, and DS David.
AG Crystal and DAG Terence shared news and updates from District 3450 to all of us.
On behalf of the Board, I presented the latest situation on the Club’s projects namely the Donation to People in Need, which is taking place on Saturday 12 (I will mention more about this project on this newsletter) and also the Joy Around the World Xmas Party for People with Special Needs.
After the presentation, we asked AG Crystal to pin Rotarian Yasmin, our Sargent-at-Arms, with the PHF insignia, recognizing her commitment towards The Rotary Foundation.
Congratulation Yasmin!
After a long absence, PP Stella returned in person to our Fellowship.
PP Stella was in Hong Kong during the COVID-19 pandemic but was a frequent online presence in our meetings.
PP Stella shared the experience of being under quarantine at the Treasure Hotel, near the airport, and how she felt to receive our night visit 2 weeks ago!
Finally, we celebrated the anniversary of our September stars: PP David (in person), PP Sam, and PP Peter.
Happy birthday to everyone!
On Saturday, September 12, we are going to accomplish a service project which aims to assist Women Migrant Workers who recently gave birth. It is a humanitarian project which focuses on ensuring that those babies will be able to receive adequate nourishment to grow healthy and strong.
Working together with RC Penha, we will donate baby formula and diapers do Caritas, which, in turn, will deliver the goods to those in need.
The donation will take place at 3:00 PM in Caritas’ headquarters located Largo de Santo Agostinho, in Central Macau.
Meanwhile, we are working on the organization of the Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration which will take place on September 24 at the Roosevelt Hotel’s Chinese restaurant.
Working with FuHong, we are organizing a Lantern Making Workshop which will take place on Saturday, September 19, at 3:00 PM.
You, your spouses, and families are welcome to join for just MOP 30 per lantern.
In the end, you can take your finished product with you.
To get your own gorgeous lantern register for the Workshop and Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration is already open on the Club’s WhatsApp group.
Yours in Rotary
President João
