We’re thrilled to share that the Rotary Club of Macau proudly hosted the 65th District Conference this May at the stunning Galaxy International Convention Centre and Andaz Macau!
This year’s conference brought together Rotarians from across District 3450 and beyond, and it was an honor to welcome Rotary International President’s Representative, Chun-Wook Hyunn from Seoul, Korea, a Trustee of The Rotary Foundation.
What made this year’s conference especially meaningful? We were the Host Club—and many of our dedicated members stepped up to lead and shine throughout the event!
Meet Our Organizing Dream Team:

PP Synthia served as the District Conference Organizing Committee Chair.

PP Florence took on the key role of Secretary General for the event.

PP Filipe with Rtn Salie orchestrated a glamorous Red Carpet Gala Night as its Organizing Chair.

PP Joao presided over the important Leaders’ Lunch on Day 1, bringing together current and future leaders in the district.

PP Elvo chaired the Awards Presentation Lunch on Day 2.

PP David and Rtn. Candy reported from the Breakout Sessions, while P Calvin and Rotaractor Lagris participated as panelists during the District Rotaract report.

Former Rotaractor Henry Lei returned as a featured speaker, sharing insights from his professional journey—a proud moment for our club!
A Celebration of Culture and Innovation:
We opened the conference with a unique cultural performance blending Portuguese folk dance with a majestic traditional Chinese dragon dance—a tribute to Macau’s rich heritage.
There was also a soul-soothing Sound Bath Meditation Session led by June Mak and her team of healing practitioners—a serene start to an energizing weekend.

Carbon Footprint:
By careful use of resources, the event was carbon-neutral! We offset 45t of carbon emissions.
Inspiring Voices:
Our first Keynote speaker was Prof. Gilberto Ka-Kit, Director of the School of Clinical Medicine, LKS Facility at the Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong. His fascinating talk took us through the setting up of the first Chinese Hospital in Hong Kong and the early training of local doctors, including Sun Yat-sen. The use of lottery funds to pay for welfare projects and the strong association with Rotary in the welfare institutions in Hong Kong. He discussed the ethics of medicine and the costs to society.

One of the conference highlights was the keynote speech by Olympic Gold Medalist Vivian Kong. Her humility, authenticity, and inspiring message touched everyone in the room.
During the Outstanding Student Service Ambassador Award session, secondary students from G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College in Hong Kong presented their innovative project, “The Mindful Academy,” focused on improving youth mental health. Their passion and purpose were truly inspiring.
A huge thank you to all Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, guests, and volunteers who helped bring this amazing event to life. Your hard work, passion, and teamwork made this a shining success for the Rotary Club of Macau and District 3450.
