How time flies! Today is the last day of 2018. I hope everyone had a fruitful 2018 and a prosperous 2019! And hope you’ll enjoy this last president’s update of 2018.

On Dec 11, a group of our members was invited to attend the Reception to celebrate the birthday of the Emperor of Japan, hosted by the Ambassador and Consul General of Japan. We were sorry to learn that Ambassador Matsuda, our honorary member had left Macau. However, our new Ambassador Wada was equally courteous and verbally agreed to be our honorary member. We will follow up with a formal invitation. It is a great honor for our club.

On Dec 15, a group of our Rotarians and family joined Fu Hong Society to break the Guinness World Record of the largest mosaic picture made of plastic cups. It was a great event to celebrate and promote inclusion among the able and the disabled. Our club is part of the Guinness World Record, hurray!

From Dec 23-26, we went on the annual Charity Trip to Guangxi together with our Rotaractors and Interactors. It was 10 years ago when I visited Guangxi as the President of Rotaract Club of Macau. A decade later, I was there again and brought along my kids this time. Certainly, Guangxi has changed a lot. There are no more muddy roads to the mountainous schools and schools are more properly equipped. But what’s unchanged are the pure hearts of the students there. Our Rotaractors and Interactors enjoyed the interaction a lot with the students there. Sometimes I wonder who is helping who. We may be bringing material goods there, but we are returned with spiritual fruits. Personally, I very much treasured this 4-day trip, which was a very good opportunity to mingle among Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors.
