President Fatima departed for Toronto on 15th to attend the Rotary International Convention which is held on 23rd-27th June so I took up the chair of the meeting last Thursday, 21st.

Though the meeting started with just 7 Rotarians, it was filled up to 17 at the end with: myself, PPs Maneiras, Ip, Choi, Fred, David, Synthia, PE Elvo (and Eugen), Rtns. Andy, Pauline, Li Ying (and guest), Yuko (and Andrew) and a special welcome to Rtn. Matthew and Rtn. Salie for their first time attendance in the capacity of Rotarians. The induction ceremony will be done this Thursday. Please come to welcome and support our Rotaractors turn Rotarians.

The World Refugee Day, held every year on 20th June, honours the strength and courage of refugees who have had to flee their homes because of conflict or natural disaster in a desperate search for safety. Secretary PP Synthia reported that Rotary clubs are doing their part to help alleviate the global refugee crisis and clubs and districts have used roughly $3 million of TRF global grant funds toward refugee-related projects and scholarships. A Rotaract club in Uganda helps provide refugees with sugar, soap and clothes.

Youth Exchange Workshop
Incoming President Elvo reminded us of the Youth Exchange Workshop which will be held this Saturday, 30th 10:00-11:30 am at the St. Paul School. The workshop, with sessions of Introduction of Rotary, Introduction of Interact, Introduction of Youth Exchange and Sexual Harassment Prevention Seminar, is specially designed for our UK exchange students and their parents, teachers, Interactors, Rotarians and related District Officers. Please come and join.

Rotaract Club of Macau – 27th Anniversary Exhibition
PP Ip extended the invitation from the Rotaract Club of Macau to all Rotarians of their 27th Anniversary Photo Exhibition which will be held 25/6-8/7 at the Tourist Information Centre at Largo do Senado, Edif. Ritz. The opening ceremony will be held on 30/6 at 2:00 pm.

Last meeting of this Rotary Year – this Thursday, 28th
This Thursday will be the last meeting of this Rotary Year. P Fatima will return and perform her last duty to preside the meeting. We’ll have a very full program at the Venetian. We’ll present the 2 exchange students to UK,
Induction of Matthew and Salie and also we’ll have a visiting Rotarian from Seattle. Please do come to join the fellowship and welcome our new Rotarians,
