Members of the Rotary Club of Macau took part in District membership activities, enjoyed fellowship both on and off the tennis court, prepared for the forthcoming Joint Installation Ceremony and gathered for the Club’s regular meeting during another active week in August.
Sharing the Experience of a Vibrant Rotary Club
On 15 August, members of the Rotary Club of Macau contributed to discussions on membership development and the qualities that help create and sustain a vibrant Rotary club.
DS PP Liz shared information about Rotary’s New Membership Leads System on behalf of the District Membership Committee.
PP Synthia represented the Rotary Club of Macau in a panel discussion considering what has made the Club vibrant. Among the themes highlighted were re-invigoration and professionalisation, together with the characteristics that have sustained the Club through its long history of service, fellowship and enjoyment.
PP Li Ying also led a breakout session examining how the Rotary Action Plan can help clubs remain vibrant and effective.
Together, the presentations provided an opportunity for the Rotary Club of Macau to share some of the experience accumulated during its 80-year journey of service.
Fellowship on the Tennis Court
Rotary fellowship continued in a more informal setting on 17 August, when members came together for a tennis evening.
Such informal activities provide another opportunity for members to strengthen friendships outside regular meetings and service projects.
Preparing for the 2026–2027 Joint Installation
During the week, preparations gathered pace for the Rotary Club of Macau Joint Installation Ceremony 2026–2027.
The annual event will mark the leadership transition of the Rotary Club of Macau and its sons’ clubs and will bring together members, Rotaractors, friends and visiting Rotarians.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at Grand Hall 3, Level 4, Macau Tower, with a reception at 6:00 pm followed by the ceremony at 6:30 pm.
Registrations during the week already included members and guests from the Rotary Club of Macau together with representatives from a number of other Rotary and Rotaract clubs, including visitors from Makati North, Amity Nexus, Innovation, Victoria and Shining Star Avenue.

Regular Club Meeting – 20 August
The Club’s sixth meeting of Rotary Year 2026–2027 was held on Thursday, 20 August at the Promenade, Sofitel Macau.
The meeting opened with a Rotary Knowledge 2.0 reminder about how Rotary activities are presented publicly. Members were encouraged to ensure that posts show people, action and impact, and help audiences understand why Rotary matters.
A review of District and Area activities followed, including the District Vibrant Workshop held on 15 August, which covered membership, public image and community service.
Members were then briefed on the forthcoming Macau End Polio Day Walk & Run, scheduled for Sunday, 25 October at Hac Sa Reservoir Park. The programme includes an 8 km run at 9:00 am and a 3 km walk at 9:30 am, and is open to the public, Rotary family and friends. District Governor Jimmy Lau, PDG Andy Li, PDG Wilson Cheng and DGE Frank Chan were listed among the District guests. The Club also noted the World’s Greatest Meal on 1 November at Macau Tower’s Tromba Rija.
International Rotary events were highlighted, including the Pattaya Zone Institute from 20–22 November 2026 and the Rotary International Convention in Barcelona from 26–30 June 2027.
The Club also reviewed a number of forthcoming local events. These included the Joint Installation Dinner on 5 September at Macau Tower, the first Club Assembly on 10 September at Sofitel Ponte 16, District Governor Jimmy Lau’s official visit to Macau on 13 September, and the 17 September speaker meeting featuring Mr Wilson Wong of Sands, speaking on cyber security. Members were also reminded that payment of the 2026–27 Club dues is required to maintain voting rights.
A central part of the evening focused on the Club’s younger generation. The meeting welcomed sharing from the Rotaract Club of Macau, represented by President Cherry Ng, and the Interact Club of St Paul School, represented by President Jolin Cheang.
This led into a discussion of Rotary Inter-generational Action. Members were encouraged to involve youth and adult members in co-leading projects, sharing decision-making and bringing complementary strengths. The presentation called on members to share their stories, co-create projects and actively seek young people’s input, while preserving Rotary’s legacy and creating space for the next generation to lead.
The meeting concluded with a reminder of the next regular Club meeting and Board meeting on Thursday, 27 August.
The attendance records for the 20 August meeting also show participation by guests from ITC St Paul and Rotaract President Cherry.
Greetings from Mongolia
Earlier on 20 August, PE Salie sent greetings to Club members from Mongolia, accompanied by a photograph from the visit.
The Mongolia journey would feature more prominently in the following week’s Club activities, when members who had taken part in the visit returned to share their experiences with the Club.
The week reflected several different aspects of Rotary life: strengthening clubs, sharing experience across the District, involving younger generations, enjoying fellowship among members and maintaining the international friendships that connect Rotary clubs around the world.
