ROTARY CLUB OF MACAU 68TH ANNIVERSARY ‘A TOUCH OF GREEN’ CHARITY BALL SUCCESSFULLY HELD WITH ECO—FRIENDLY CELEBRATION.
HIGHLIGHTED WITH KIND DONATION FROM SANDS CHINA LTD, MACAU FAIR & TRADE ASSOCIATION AND SAI HANG TELECOM

Rotary Club of Macau’s 68th Anniversary Charity Ball was held recently at The Venetian Macao with over 400 kindhearted guests all gracing the evening elegantly dressed with an element of green in support of the eco-friendly theme of ‘ A touch of Green’.

Rotary Club of Macau Ball Chair and President-elect Elizabete Fong  remarked in her opening speech that all funds raised during the Charity Ball will be donated to meaningful humanitarian service projects for those in need in Macao and internationally and also thanked all the generous corporate sponsors, donors and supporters, performers, guests, Rotarians and Rotaractors.  Echoing the new Rotary Year 2015-16 theme ‘ A Gift to the World’ , the club, being a Green Rotary Club,  focus will  prioritize on social responsibility, embarking upon new  eco-friendly sustainable service projects  dedicated to improve the lives of special needs children and elderlies in Macau. They will continue to host the 16th ‘Joy to the World’ Xmas Night with Macau Mentally Handicapped Association as well as the ‘Light up Rotary Great Gondola Grab’ fundraiser to support local charitable organizations. Internationally, the Guangxi Education project for the under-privileged students will be in its 16th year, witnessing students pursuing their dreams to university.

During an important donation cheque presentation ceremony, Ball Chair Elizabete received a MOP100,000 cheque from Mr. Dave Horton, Global Chief Marketing Officer of Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Sands China Ltd., to support ongoing education projects in Guangxi  as well as   MOP100,000 cheque from Ms Synthia Chan, Vice President of Macau Fair & Trade Association and MOP150,000 cheque from Sai Hang Telecommunications.

President Kevin Lei in his welcoming remarks gave a brief club report and thanking all guests especially those traveled afar.

The evening was highlighted with a line-up of meaningful ‘go green’ programs like corsage made from recycled materials by Concordia School for Special Education; ‘Tacho’ duet performing unplugged music; music singer Filipe Tou leading Rotarians doing a Percussion’s act with utensil/pots and pans and a

delightfully entertaining ‘Green Fashionista’ contest with Rotarians and Rotaractors displaying their
costumes made from recycled materials.  The Venetian Macao also prepared organic food and ingredients for the buffet of the night.

Also, all guest tables centerpiece was a unique  basket made from recycled wooden pallet filled with canned/packaged food donated by Rotarians and Sands China employees. All the centerpieces were donated to Cradle and Fountain of Hope Association after the Ball.
The Charity Ball was honored with guests including Mr. Bien Tou, Deputy Director-General of China Liaison Office, Ms Dorothy Tang, representing Social Welfare Bureau, District Governor Belinda Yeung, District Leaders, Presidents and Rotarians from Rotary District3450 as well as Club officers/Rotarians from sister clubs–Rotary Club of Taipei, her sponsored club Rotary Club of Taipei Diamond and Rotary Club of Makati North.
 
The evening climaxed  attractive lucky draw and guests all dancing to the hot band music till passed midnight. The elegant décor and eco-comfortable atmosphere designed by Venetian Macao Convention and Exhibition team made the Charity Ball a most memorable and enjoyable experience to all guests present.
