Welcome to the 7th weekly update!

At our meeting, last week, we had the pleasure of receiving Dr. Lee Thomas, our alumni, who joined us all the way from South Carolina, USA via Zoom.

Given Dr. Lee Thomas’s interest in health-related issues, our conversation was mostly about the Novel Coronavirus pandemic.

There was a lot of interest in the way Macau authorities have been dealing with the public health crisis, in terms of disease prevention, as well as addressing the economic downturn brought about the tourist flow interruption.

Another hot topic of conversation was the famous grits, which delighted the taste buds of our Rotarians.

Besides Dr. Lee Thomas, we also had PP Liz and PP Fátima online.

PP Stella tried to join us but, unfortunately, the Internet connection was not strong enough.

During the meeting, we also introduced a woman who will, most likely, become the Rotary International’s President for 2022/2023.

Jennifer E. Jones is a member of the Rotary Club of Windsor-Roseland, Ontario, Canada, since 1997.

Jones will be the first woman to hold that office in the organization’s 115-year history and will officially become president-nominee on 1 October, if no other candidates challenge her.

I would now like to call your attention to the upcoming District Membership Forum, which is scheduled to take place on August 22 (Saturday) from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

This year’s membership forum will focus on “Rise to Challenges and Open Opportunities.”
