Dear Fellow Rotarians,

On 2nd August 2014, we had our Membership Development and Retention seminar at the Hong Kong Police Office Club presented by PDG Jones Wong and attended by our membership chair PP Fatima and President-Elect Elizabete. It was an interesting seminar with very useful tips on how to attract new members and how to keep current members motivated and involved in rotary services. Remember RI President Gary Huang’s membership goal is 1.3 million and he needs all clubs to work a little harder to increase membership and maintain a high retention rate. I have attached the PDG Jones presentation on this topic which I hope you can spare a minute to read as your valuable suggestions to support our membership goal for this year are crucial.

The same evening, the Rotary Club of Lan Kwai Fong celebrated their 6th Annual Ball at Langham Place, Mongkok, Hong Kong, IPP KC, PP Florence, PE Elizabete and myself enjoyed a great evening of fellowship.

Thank you, webmaster PP David as our new website was launched last Monday. It has now a contemporary look and feel to liven up our club image, with buttons linked with club Facebook, photo galleries and the latest updates of the club. Please do surf in this link:

2014-15 Joint Installation Ceremony Highlights:

DG, IPPs and Ps

On 8th August, we had our Joint Installation Ceremony with our two daughter clubs – Rotaract Club of Macau and Rotaract Club of the University of Macau Students’ Union, more than 120 Rotarians, Rotaractors, District leaders, Visiting Rotarians and guests came to witness this important highlight of the year. The outgoing Presidents shared touching moments and feelings about their presidency year and our IPP K C even sang a song with dedicated lyrics to express his experience.

I am also grateful to our dear Rotaractors for their efforts and hard work in helping to make the ceremony successful and enjoyable.

At the end of the ceremony, PP Ip and Rotaractor Matthew led us to sing our Rotary Theme Song – “It’s Our Rotary” with everyone flicking LED lights in the dimmed room.  Matthew speaks fluent Fukienese but when we heard both of them sing, PP Ip delivery was equally authentic. Wonder what is PP Ip’s rue dialect?

Attached are two pictures:

  2. A cheque was presented to Concordia School and received by Principal Grace Lam.
