Dear Fellow Rotarians and Rotaractors:

Following up on the great presentation by Dr. Robert Kirby last week, this Thursday will have another great feature in our regular meeting.

I am pleased to inform you that four (4) Ambassadorial Scholars that are currently doing their one-year program in Hong Kong will be joining our meeting to give us a presentation. The details of the meeting will be as follows:

 

Date: Thursday, April 17, 2008
Time: 8.00pm Fellowship and 8.30pm Meeting called to order
Venue: The Regency Hotel (former Hyatt Regency Hotel) in Taipa


I have also included their profiles for your reference:

1. Juliana Hagembe (from Kenya)
Juliana was born and raised in Kenya. Her last five years were spent in Northern Michigan University in Michigan, USA where she acquired an Undergraduate and a Masters degree in Biochemistry. Currently, she is pursing a Masters in Public Health degree at HKU under the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship, sponsored by Marquette West Rotary District 6220, Michigan USA. Her future goal is to make a contribution towards decreasing globally the gap in health care inequality.

2. Ayumi Yamashita (from Japan)
Ayumi has always had the intention to be a bridge between China and Japan ever since she studied History in her high-school back in 1997. In year 2000, she got her Associate degree in Arts (in English) at Nanzan Junior College in Nagoya, Japan. Then she studied English at Language Systems Internationals in California, USA in 2001. From 2001-2003, she worked as a Japanese Language instructor at the International school in Nagoya, after which she went to Beijing University to study Putonghua for about 2 years through a scholarship from China-Japan Friendship Association. Since 2006, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology (the Anthropology of Chinese Societies) at City University of HK through the Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship.

3. Matthias Muhlendyck (Germany)
Matthias studied Business Administration at the University of Witten/Herdecke in Germany as well as at the IPADE Business School in Mexico City. Currently he is a visiting student under the MBA Program of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)’s Business School for one academic year.

4. Jason Buhi (from USA)
Most of us should be familiar with Jason by now as he has joint our meetings and/or events for at least 4 times during this Rotary year. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hong Kong North, Jason holds a Law degree from the US and is a currently studying at the Hong Kong University (HKU) under the Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship.

I urge you all to take time off your busy schedules to meet these Ambassadorial Scholars that will be traveling from Hong Kong. Also, please try your best to confirm your attendance in advance in order to work out the arrangements with the hotel.
