November is an exciting month. We have the Grand Prix, and our Chief Executive has just announced to increase the Cash Sharing Scheme next year to MOP10,000 and MOP6,000 to Macau permanent residents and non-permanent residents respectively. The month of November is also the Rotary Foundation Month. So, if you’d like to make donation to the Rotary Foundation, this is a good month to do so! And below please find some updates on our club’s activities.
On Nov 8, DS Keith Chow came to our club to talk about Satellite Clubs, which is the RI and District’s initiative to expand membership and create new clubs, especially through attracting Rotaractors to join Rotary. Given our club’s success in turning our Rotaractors into Rotarians, the Satellite Club idea doesn’t really fit our needs. Nonetheless, it was a good discussion to stimulate our ideas about bringing new blood to Rotary.
Remember our success in raising MOP15,000 from the World’s Greatest Meal in the previous week? It was posted on the World’s Greatest Meal Facebook Page. However, our amount of funds raised was not correct on the post. Why? Because PP Guy and PP Synthia made another donation of MOP1,000 each. So, our total fund raised is MOP20,000. Hurray! And the box donation that evening was MOP800. Please see the PPT presented at the meeting.
On Nov 9, I represented the club to attend the Intercity Meeting in Hong Kong. Our club was recognized by TRF Trustee Chair, PRIP Ron Burton as the EREY Club. You may see my FB post here. The next day, PP Florence, PP Liz and PP KC represented our club to join the District Rotary Foundation Seminar. Thank you PP Florence, Liz and KC for your effort to support Rotary.
On Nov 10, we had our Rotary Day with Grannies. 120 grannies from 120 Grannies from Obra das Mães (母親會), Caritas (明愛), Macao Federation of Trade Unions (工聯) visited the University of Macau, had a bus tour in Cotai, and lunch and games at the Macau Tower. Special thanks to the University of Macau PR Student Ambassadors for introducing the beautiful campus, Shun Tak Group for subsidizing the lunch, October 5th Bakery for sponsoring biscuits, our Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors and volunteers for organizing the activity and spending a memorable day with our grannies! You may share the elderly’s happiness here.
On Nov 15, we had a short regular meeting because of the board meeting that followed. But our fellowship was great as usual. We were particularly happy to see daddy Marc, who apparently gave 5 pounds to little Tobias. And with the top-up from PP Fred, the box donation was MOP1,000. Please see the PPT presented at the meeting.
